Note: Plz keep in mind that after reading this article, I wouldnt want any Hi5 maniac to throw stones at me... this is just my personal opinion I've written out of my experience, view and knowledge (and of course with proofs you can't disagree with)!
I loved Hi5 when it first started, but today, 'I' wouldnt prefer (and wouldnt recommend people to prefer) Hi5 to facebook and Myspace. It's not that I blame this social networking site particularly coz I love facebook and myspace rather than Hi5, but here are the reasons what you can't indeed disagree:
Reason 1: Hi5 has these days become too (indeed too much) commercial and now cares about its earnings rather than people's ease and comfort. For instance... check this: recently, A 700 X 100 banner ad has been placed on the top of the page, and given a ugly look to its homepage! Not just this, there are more than 3 or 4 google ads in every Hi5 page, and the content are not even matching!!
Reason 2: Trying to be like Myspace and Facebook, Hi5 uses a lot of scripts these days (for eg opening all the photos without refreshing the page), and has grown more errors and nothing else. Because of this, sometimes the photos don't load at all or leaves the browser even not resopnding! A few times, people complain that deleting notifications, messages and friend requests has been a problem as well!
Reason 3: hi5 network is now loaded with malicious codes and spam, and it aint strange if you get strange profile comments (for eg. embedded link of porn youtube videos) on Hi5. Recently few friends of mine had to get their account closed because their friends had commented on their profile with porn video attachments (in fact they never did), and this went on and on. Reporting abuse or spam was useless!! Finally the only way out was to delete their account!
